Comparison of cutting effects between hydrogen, propane, acetylene and coke oven gas

 

The flame temperature of hydrogen is about 2800 ° C. Propane (2700 ° C) is lower than acetylene (3300 ° C) but much higher than coke oven gas (1900 ° C). The higher flame temperature of hydrogen can ensure the oxidation reaction temperature and faster cutting speed of the billet at the cutting point. In the actual cutting process, it is found that the cutting speed of hydrogen can be on average 30% higher than that of coke oven gas, and stepless speed regulation can be achieved. More importantly, the straightness of the hydrogen flame is good. Observation and analysis of the cutting sections of several kinds of gas, it can be found that the cutting section is smooth and flat, without unevenness when cutting with hydrogen; the bottom edge of the section is basically free of slag, which saves cleaning and post-processing time, and also ensures that the cut material is not affected carbon.

When using three kinds of gas for cutting, the cross section is uneven, especially when the coke oven gas is used. Therefore, the use of hydrogen cutting can provide high-quality raw materials for the later rolling process and improve the quality of the final product.

 

Third, the safety comparison of hydrogen and propane, acetylene, coke oven gas

1 propane gas

Propane is a saturated hydrocarbon. The ignition temperature range is from 515 to 543 ° C. The explosion range limit of mixing with air is 2.3% to 9.5%, and the relative density to air is 1.52 at 15.6 ° C. Propane is chemically inert, has a high flash point, has a relatively slow burning rate, is not easily tempered, and is therefore safer. However, propane is highly toxic, seriously endangers human health, and will form accumulations in low-lying areas when leaking. It must be used in accordance with strict technical and safe operating procedures. A propane gas bus explosion accident occurred in a steelmaking plant in 2001, which seriously threatened the safety of operators and production equipment.

2 acetylene gas

Acetylene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon. It is chemically active, flammable and explosive. The ignition temperature is 406 ~ 440 ℃. The explosion limit range for mixing with air is wide, between 2.5% and 80.0%, and it is opposite to air at 15.6 ℃. The density is 0.906. Acetylene diffuses slowly during leakage, and is prone to fire, explosion and other safety accidents. At the same time, acetylene is a suffocating gas, which is extremely harmful to people. It must be used in accordance with strict technical and safety operating procedures.

3 coke oven gas

Coke oven gas is a mixed gas with complex composition and mixed with many flammable and explosive gases. Its ignition temperature is 550 ~ 650 ℃, and the explosion limit of mixing with air is 4.27% ~ 37.59%; its safety is poor, and it is prone to safety accidents such as poisoning, fire and explosion.

4 hydrogen

Hydrogen is a renewable green energy source. Its preparation is simple and inexpensive. It is non-toxic and non-polluting, and will not endanger the health of operators. Ignition temperature is 580 ~ 590 ℃, and the explosion limit range of mixing with air is 4.0% ~ 74.2%

The relative density with air at 15.6 ° C is 0.069. Therefore, hydrogen is easy to fly away, and even if it leaks, it will not accumulate, and no vicious accident such as gas station explosion will occur. The water electrolytic hydrogen and oxygen generator has a low working pressure, does not store hydrogen itself, and is used with production. Hydrogen and oxygen generators are not pressure vessels, and they do not need to be supervised by the social labor safety department, which also reflects its excellent safety from the side.
